Royal Tombs
Material culture material found on Macedonian sites,
like the cemetery found by Andronico at Vergina (ca. VIII century BC), indicates
the existence of a social hierarchy with the presence of an elite, buried in
tumuli with four to five rich burials (but there are cases of tumuli containing
as many as fifteen), where we can find: different kinds of vases (some of them
painted), weapons (swords, axes, spears) and opulent Jewellery
(diadem,
necklaces, rings, earrings, bracelets, belt hooks and fibulae).
The deposition of these objects on a burial indicates the deceased
wealth, prestige and authority.
